Best Beginner Camera Reviews:

Canon EOS Rebel T6i Review

best beginner camera

The Canon EOS Rebel T6i  is the best “Rebel” so far from the whole rebel series. It has a 24.2MP CMOS APS-C sensor and a new 7560 pixel which is RGB. Additionally, it has an IR sensor for metering which gives a better measurement.

Pros:

  1. Resolution: The resolution of this camera is the highest among Canon beginner cameras so far.
  2. Range: It has a range which is much better than the earlier version like T5i
  3. ISO Performance: The ISO performance is very high for its category.
  4. Autofocus: The autofocus is very fast which a boon for new and aspiring photographers.

Cons:

  1. Buffer Depth: The buffer depth is very shallow as it has RAW files with it.
  2. Battery Life: The battery life of the camera is below average.

Recommendation

This camera is new in the market and lives up to the hype that was there around it. It has a high sensor which Canon users had a long wait for. There are two variants for the same camera which helps you choose the best one you want.

Nikon D3300 review

best beginner camera

As an entry level camera for beginners, the Nikon D3300 is one of the best. It has a 24.5 MP resolution which till a few years ago wouldn’t be available in the sub $4,000 category. It is great value for money, and as an entry-level camera, the performance is superb since it has a resolution of cameras double its price.

Pros

  1. Price: The price of this camera is excellent for the value that you get.
  2. Performance: As an entry level camera, this may be the best in terms of performance.
  3. Resolution: With a 24.5 MP resolution, it is one of the best in the entry-level camera market.

Cons

  1. Image Noise: The picture noise level of this camera is very high. It’s hard to remove the noise while clicking though you can easily later while editing.
  2. Manual Focus: The focus of this camera is manual and ‘s hard to use.
  3. Wi-Fi: A built-in Wi-Fi helps a lot in the transfer of files, etc. This camera doesn’t have an inbuilt Wi-Fi.

Recommendation

If you are searching for an entry level camera which is cheap but still potent, the Nikon D3300 is one of the best. It has a few issues like high image noise, etc. but given its performance for the price range, it is an excellent camera for a beginner.

Sony A58 Review

best beginner camera

The Sony A58 is a camera which gives you a great deal on price along with having super photographic capabilities and skills which are an expert. It has a new 20.1 MP APS-C sensor. Its pictures are detailed and very sharp. There are some distinctive features which resemble a lower end camera like a lens mount of plastic and an LCD screen which is simple, but you get a good price too due to that.

Pros

  1. Quality: The image quality is excellent, especially when you compare it to the Nikon D330 above in the same price range.
  2. Resolution: It has a 20.1 MP resolution which is excellent for the price.
  3. Battery Life: It has a great battery life.
  4. Autofocus: The autofocus is fast which helps even a beginner get good clicks of moving objects.
  5. Video Quality: The video is Full HD 1080p.

Cons

  1. Shallow Buffer: The mode speeds are in slow bursts, and the buffer is shallow.
  2. Mount: The mount is plastic instead of metal to save cost.
  3. Kit Lens: The quality of the kit lens is average.
  4. Viewfinder: It is electronic instead of optical. Though it is not a big issue, some may not like it.

Recommendation

The Sony A58 has mid range features and an entry level price. This is its biggest USP. It has high resolution, good battery life, quality video and image capture. Some may not like its plastic mount and optical viewfinder, but for the price it is great.

Fuji X-T10 Review

best beginner camera

Fujifilm X-T10 is a great entry level camera. Since it is from the Fuji stable, you can be assured of high quality. It comes in two colors i.e. silver and black. You can buy it either on its own or as a kit which has a different zoom lens.

Pros

  1. Body: The thing I love about the Fujifilm X-T10 is its metal body. It feels good to hold and looks very classy.
  2. Image Quality: The image quality of the Fujifilm X-T10 is very sharp, and the images are undistorted, unlike many other cameras. This is because the Fujifilm X-T10 does not use the anti-alias filter on its sensor.
  3. Built-In Flash: The built-in a flash has a high flash exposure.
  4. Highlight rendition: Since it has an auto Dynamic Range, the highlights are held in spite of any condition.
  5. White Balance: It has an excellent white balance even with little light.

Cons

  1. Memory saves option and recall option: Like any Fuji camera, it doesn’t have a full memory save option and recall choice.
  2. Battery Percentage: Though the battery icon is present, it doesn’t show percentage remaining.
  3. No second card slot.

Recommendation

The Fuji X-T10 is easy to use, built well with a metal body, has excellent image quality and is at a price point which is very reasonable especially for a beginner. It is amazing when it comes to skin tones, so if the primary focus is capturing images of people, the Fuji X-T10 beats its competition like Nikon and Canon hands down.
